The agreement between you and Medexxa
Last updated: 26 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Medexxa by patients, doctors and other registered professionals, hospitals and medical centers, pharmacies, and laboratories. By creating an account or using the platform, you accept them.
1. What Medexxa is
Medexxa is a technology platform that connects patients with healthcare providers and lets those providers coordinate records, prescriptions, laboratory work and appointments.
Medexxa does not practise medicine, does not provide medical advice, and does not employ or supervise the professionals on the platform. Clinical decisions belong entirely to the treating professional. See our Medical Disclaimer.
2. Accounts and accurate information
- You must give true, current and complete information and keep it up to date.
- One person or organisation per account; do not share sign-in credentials.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us at once about unauthorised use.
- We may suspend or close an account where information is false, a registration cannot be verified, or these terms are breached.
3. Patients
- Give accurate health information, including allergies and current medication, because professionals rely on it.
- You control who may access your record and may withdraw that access at any time.
- Attend or cancel booked appointments in reasonable time.
- Do not use Medexxa for medical emergencies — contact emergency services (1990 Suwa Seriya) or go to the nearest emergency department.
4. Doctors and professionals
- You must be lawfully registered and entitled to practise in Sri Lanka, and must supply your correct registration number.
- You are solely responsible for your clinical judgement, diagnoses, prescriptions and referrals.
- Access a patient record only where there is a genuine care relationship and the patient has confirmed consent on the platform.
- Issue prescriptions only after an appropriate assessment, and comply with all applicable prescribing rules.
- Keep your availability, fees and practice locations accurate.
5. Hospitals and medical centers
- Keep center details, opening hours, closures and staff roles accurate; patients rely on them to attend.
- You are responsible for the staff accounts you create and the permissions you grant them.
- Where you close on a day patients have already booked, notify them through the platform's closure tools.
- You remain responsible for your own record-keeping and regulatory obligations.
6. Pharmacies
- Dispense only against a valid prescription received on the platform, and exercise independent professional judgement before dispensing.
- Keep inventory, stock levels and unit prices accurate — doctors and patients see them when choosing medicines.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of dispensing, labelling and pricing.
- Prescription data received through Medexxa may be used only to dispense and to keep the records the law requires.
7. Laboratories
- Accept only orders you are equipped and licensed to perform.
- Return results accurately and promptly to the ordering professional and the patient.
- Keep your test catalogue, turnaround times and pricing accurate.
- You are responsible for the quality and interpretation limits of your own results.
8. Connections between providers
Centers, pharmacies and laboratories can connect to one another and to professionals. Forming a connection allows the workflow it exists for — sending prescriptions, placing laboratory orders, or sharing a waiting list — and nothing more. Either side may revoke a connection at any time, which stops further sharing going forward.
9. Acceptable use
- Do not access, copy or export records you have no care relationship with.
- Do not impersonate a patient, professional or organisation, or misstate registration details.
- Do not upload malicious code, scrape the platform, or attempt to bypass access controls.
- Do not post false reviews, abusive messages or unlawful content.
10. Fees and payments
Where a feature carries a fee, the amount is shown before you commit. Consultation, dispensing and laboratory charges are set by the provider, not by Medexxa, and any dispute about them is between you and that provider. Taxes apply as required by Sri Lankan law.
11. Intellectual property
Medexxa owns the platform, its software, design and brand. You keep ownership of the content and records you put into it, and grant Medexxa the limited licence needed to store, display and transmit that content to deliver the service.
12. Availability and liability
We work to keep Medexxa available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may carry out maintenance.
To the extent permitted by law, Medexxa is not liable for clinical decisions, for the acts or omissions of any provider, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from information you or a provider entered incorrectly. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where a registration cannot be verified, or where patient safety requires it. Clinical records retained under our Privacy Policy survive termination.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute.
